Manish Jha’s “Matrubhoomi” will hit you in the gut as it handles the issue of female foeticide and female child murder that progressions sexual orientation conditions and makes a future oppressed world where whole towns are loaded with guys and ladies need to wed various guys. The film pulls no punches in recounting its troubling story and was granted the FIPRESCI Award at Venice Film Festival, a similar honor won by “Masaan” at the current year’s Cannes Film Festival.
